The Salvaged Demesne
Despite their menacing appearance and size, the Goliath people are actually quite peaceful and very introspective. Keepers of the secret of psionics and martial arts, these giants dwell quietly in monastic like villages high in the mountains. They live unmolested within the borders of other nations, usually sharing some of the knowledge and wisdom they possess with the Lords of that land. It is not unusual at all for nobility to employ a Goliath as an adviser, consular, or spiritual aid. Goliaths also come to human, elf and dwarf lands to study these races, taking in their behaviors and ambitions for several years before returning to the mountains to share that insight in the grand libraries of these formidable monasteries.
Among the greatest of the Goliath monasteries is Parnab, an enormous complex built into face of Kollos Mountain in Southern Chyrath. The libraries within are said to contain the complete history of Mydril but the half giants simply refuse to let any outsiders confirm this fact. A number of ancient artifacts are also housed within, and these are occasionally loaned out to rulers and heroes, usually without any clear reason. With their mastery psionics, few dare challenge the Goliath’s when they demand an item be returned.
The mystic Hannli Harib is the current overseer of Parnab. Under his tenure, the libraries have become even more exclusive. He has issued vague warnings about coming disasters, which does little to separate him from other soothsayers across the kingdoms.
